Action Sports Tradeshows are a blast, but the folks at Rerip always have an eye out for all the, extra packaging, garbage, and unnecessary gloss that have unfortunately become too common a part of the event scene. They know they are not alone. Indeed, the action sports industry is actively looking to find green solutions to everything from events to manufacturing and distribution processes.

Rise Above Plastics!

Rise Above Plastics (RAP) is a starting point for raising awareness of the problems that plastic brings to our oceans. Every bit of plastic that was ever produced still exists today, and much of it ends up in the ocean – as evidenced by the infamous flotilla in the North Central Pacific Gyre. RAP endeavors to spur you to action – at home, at the store, at city hall. Each of us depends on plastic in some form every day, but much of it is a convenience choice, a decision that can easily be swayed toward the proper environmental path, requiring no more effort on your part.

A Green Ex-List Event

We sighted another green effort at the filming of Fox Television Studio’s, “The Ex List”. Word has it that the show has been canceled before it even got started! However, one organic coffee company hopes they’ll finish filming the 13 episodes in San Diego.

San Diego Coastkeeper’s Finds New Ways to Green Their 13th Annual Ocean Gala

San Diego Coastkeeper will be celebrating their campaign for San Diego’s ocean wilderness and other activities that are preserving their precious natural restheirces. Their 13th Annual Ocean Gala benefit will be held on November 15th at the Hotel Del Coronado from 6:30 – 10:00pm.

New this year they are making their Gala as green as possible. Guests will enjoy organic food from local and sustainable vendors, including their wine sponsor Quivira Vineyards. Their event materials are being printed on recycled paper, using soy and vegetable ink. In addition, they are hosting ‘green-themed’ live and silent auctions, including a gourmet sustainable dinner from local top chefs who use sustainable seafood, local foods and organic wines.
