Plan It Green had a great time at the world’s largest annual environmental fair and Earth Day Celebration – produced by volunteers!

We arrived early and set up with many others that planned on captivating the crowd of 60,000 plus attendees. We had a great location; thanks to the Earth Works organizers and of course beautiful Balboa Park.

We met many great people that just came out to see the sites and enjoy the amazing heat wave we had that soared into the 90’s. Then there were others were came out to truly be inspired and surrounded by the synergy of Earth Day.

From the food to the green products being offered, there was something for everyone. Of course, we were a bit confused when we bought our mega-sized lemonades to quench our thirst in the middle of the day. They were served in Styrofoam cups! Hopefully that minor detail will not be overlooked in future Earth Fair Festivals.

However, it was a huge success with Zero Waste San Diego achieving an 80% diversion of trash from the landfill! We congratulate them on all their efforts! After speaking with Laura Anthony, President of Zero Waste San Diego, she said they want to achieve 100% diversion in 2010.

We’d also like to say a special thank you to our vendors who supported our booth exhibit. Embellishmint Floral & Event Design Studio provided us an eye catching bamboo structure draped in a white, sheer fabric. Dawn also created simple but exqusite floral pieces which included one large centerpiece of manzanitas branches and suspended bubbles with Gerbera Daisies. All those floral pieces used less than 1 half gallon of water! Concepts Event Design contributed their beautiful taffeta linens to give our tables that extra upgrade. Lastly, our signage and all of our printed materials were from Angel Printing who joined us that day to show off their green printing solutions. We appreciate your efforts to continue supporting the greening of our special events industry here in San Diego.
